A hanging scale or crane scale is a multi-purpose weighing apparatus, used to weigh packages, produce, and other products. Dial hanging scales and digital hanging scales models are extremely accurate, but most people now prefer the digital models because of the quick and easy readings. A plus to the dial models though, is that it is not necessary to have a power source in order to use them.
