Mechanical scales still have their place within the commercial and health sectors. Traditionally made using a spring or lever and knife edge connected to an analogue clock type indicator display or steelyard beam. Most have metal casings and are portable or of heavier construction for floor standing. Spring balances; hanging scales; post office scales; packing room scales are typical applications.
