Spot on scale accuracy - and how you can make it happen.
Everybody wants their scales to be spot on every year but how do we go about achieving this?- We asked one of our calibration engineers on how you can routinely achieve accurate results from your scales
Hi, Nathan Here From Oakleyweigh, I’ve Been a Calibration Engineer Here for 7 Years,
Here are some of my top tips from experience:
- Make sure the scale is level
- Keep Scales away from air currents and Vibration
- Place the scale on a stable surface
- Place in a temperature controlled room (mainly precision balances)
- Calibrate regularly with Certified weights
- Purchase a scale that can be easily calibrated and services
- Schedule regular calibration visits
After 7 years the most important takeaway I have is the environment the scale is in is as important as the scale itself. You can have the most expensive scale on the market, but if it's not in a suitable environment, it can greatly decrease the accuracy of the scale. Have a dedicated weighing area, away from AC vents and doorways.
Make sure the scale is level and on a solid surface. When using a precision scale, always allow the scale to warm up before use roughly 30-60 minutes, this allows its internal components to stabilise. Carry out your checks each day, with the scale warmed up and with certified calibrated weights for quality control. Make sure you have a reliable company such as oakleyweigh visit regularly for routine calibration checks to ensure a full calibration that is listen within UKWF code of conduct, https://www.oakleyweigh.co.uk/...
